TEXAS FELONY CRIMES

Felony charges are exceptionally serious and the stakes are high. A felony conviction can result in life-changing legal penalties and social repercussions, including:

  • Incarceration in Texas state jail (for state jail felonies) or prison (for all other felonies)

  • Paying costly fines (often in addition to incarceration)

  • Building a socially-stigmatizing criminal record (branding yourself a "felon")

  • Inability to pursue certain jobs or field-specific professional licensure

  • Losing your eligibility to own or possess a firearm

  • Losing your ability to vote or hold office

At Diablita Criminal Defense, we want you to know that facing felony charges does not mean you will ultimately be convicted of those charges. The prosecutor handling the matter will need to prove up every element of your case beyond a reasonable doubt, and the right lawyer will hold the prosecutor to that standard and challenge every aspect of their case against you. If you're facing felony charges in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area (DFW) or the greater Austin area (ATX), contact la Diablita today and start building your strongest defense. Our initial consultation are always FREE. Call us at (512) 838-3442, email us at info@DiablitaCriminalDefense.com, or send us a message online

In Texas, including Dallas-Fort Worth area and Austin, repeat or habitual felony offenders face harsher punishment when convicted for new felony offenses. For example:

  • A person currently charged with a state jail felony offense who has previously been convicted of two state jail felony offenses will now be convicted of a felony in the third degree, resulting in a prison sentence ranging from two to ten years and/or a fine of up to $10,000.

  • A person currently charged with a third-degree felony offense who has previously been convicted of a felony offense will now be convicted of a felony in the second degree, resulting in a prison sentence ranging from two to 20 years and/or a fine of up to $10,000.

  • A person currently charged with a second-degree felony offense who has previously been convicted of a felony offense will now be convicted of a felony in the first degree, resulting in a prison sentence ranging from five to 99 years or life imprisonment and/or a fine of up to $10,000.

  • A person currently charged with a first-degree felony offense who has previously been convicted of a felony offense faces a prison sentence ranging from 15 to 99 years or life imprisonment and/or a fine of up to $10,000.
